Capturing Summer Vibes: A Morning Walk at the Penn State Arboretum
There is nothing quite like a bright, sunny morning to get you out of the studio and into nature. On Friday, June 5th, I took a trip over to The Arboretum at Penn State to see what kind of summer magic I could capture on camera.
It was a beautiful, balmy 87°F morning by 10:30 AM—perfect weather for exploring the gardens and scouting for some active wildlife.
Flowers, Fish, and Flight
The initial goal for the morning? Catching some butterflies in action. While the local wildlife had a few different plans, the Arboretum absolutely delivered on stunning visuals:
The Gardens & Arbor: The blooms are out in full force right now. You can't visit an arboretum without taking a moment to appreciate and photograph the incredible variety of flowers on display.
The Koi Pond: Spent some time watching the koi glide through the water—always a peaceful, scenic spot to capture.
The Pollinators: While a few elusive Cabbage White butterflies managed to stay just out of frame, the local bees were out in abundance, working hard among the blossoms and making for some great macro shots.
Wrapping Up
Even when nature doesn't give you the exact shot you planned for, it always gives you something beautiful to work with. It was a fantastic morning filled with vibrant floral colors and steady sunshine before heading back home.
