Tufted Titmouse

Small but full of personality, this soft-gray songbird is a backyard favorite across the eastern United States. With its signature spiky crest, big dark eyes, and peachy sides, the Tufted Titmouse looks permanently curious — and it definitely acts that way too!

✨ Fun Facts:

  • Known for its clear, whistled ā€œpeter-peter-peterā€ call

  • Loves sunflower seeds and will often grab one and fly off to crack it open

  • Nests in tree cavities and will even pluck fur from animals to line its nest

  • Often travels in mixed flocks with chickadees and nuthatches

If you’ve got a feeder out, chances are this bold little bird has already stopped by to say hello. Keep your eyes (and ears) open — once you learn their call, you’ll start noticing them everywhere.

Have you spotted a Tufted Titmouse in your yard lately? 🌿
